President Trump publicly endorsed renaming Immigration and Customs Enforcement as National Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or NICE, in late April 2026 via Truth Social, amplifying a social media suggestion to alter media phrasing around agency actions. He reiterated interest in speeches and posts through May and June, framing the change as a messaging improvement during expanded enforcement operations. No formal executive action or legislative steps have followed, however, with reports noting internal resistance from agents and leadership including Tom Homan. Renaming a cabinet-level agency typically requires administrative or congressional processes that face competing priorities in the current term. Trader consensus reflects these structural and timing barriers, with probabilities remaining low absent a concrete implementation timeline or new directive.
