This market will resolve to "Yes" if it is officially announced that any part of PayPal will be, has been, or is being acquired by Stripe, or that PayPal is being merged with Stripe, by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Acquiring a part of PayPal refers to any material acquisition of a subset of PayPal by Stripe, including but not limited to a PayPal subsidiary, business unit, or equity interest. A total acquisition of PayPal by Stripe will count. Business partnerships between PayPal and Stripe will not count. An announcement of a qualifying acquisition or merger by PayPal or PayPal and Stripe will qualify for a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether the announced acquisition/merger actually occurs. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from PayPal and Stripe, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Recent reports indicate active negotiations between Stripe, backed by private equity firm Advent International, and PayPal following a July 2026 joint offer of $60.50 per share valuing the target at more than $53 billion, a roughly 28% premium to prevailing levels at the time. PayPal’s board rejected the initial bid as undervaluing the company, yet discussions have intensified in recent weeks with committed bank financing supporting the approach. This M&A activity, building on Stripe’s February 2026 expression of interest in acquiring all or parts of PayPal, underpins the market-implied odds for a 2026 transaction. Key near-term catalysts include potential revisions to deal terms ahead of regulatory reviews and any updates to PayPal’s strategic review under its new leadership.
