This market will resolve to Yes if President Trump issues a presidential veto, including a "pocket veto," by December 31, 2026 at 11:59PM ET. Otherwise this market will resolve to "No". A pocket veto will be considered to have occurred when the relevant bill is presented to the President, even if the pocket veto's effect is not realized until after the date referenced above. In the event of ambiguity over the timing or effect of a pocket veto, this market will remain open until the status of the pocket veto is known. The resolution source will be official U.S. federal government publications (e.g., Congress.gov) however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. **Trump's veto use in 2026 remains evenly balanced at 50% for "Yes," reflecting a mix of restraint so far and ongoing leverage plays with a Republican-led Congress.** He issued two vetoes in late 2025 on narrow bipartisan measures (a Colorado water project and Miccosukee land amendments), both sustained by the House in January 2026, showing willingness to block legislation when priorities diverge. In the most recent development as of June 24-25, 2026, Trump abruptly canceled the signing ceremony for the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act—which passed both chambers with veto-proof majorities—to pressure the Senate on his top priority, the SAVE America Act (voter eligibility and ID requirements). He framed the housing bill as secondary and did not explicitly threaten a veto, leaving open the possibility it becomes law after the standard 10-day period. This standoff highlights the competitive dynamics: unified GOP government reduces routine clashes, yet internal Senate resistance to the SAVE Act and other Trump-backed measures creates flashpoints where a veto could serve as leverage. Traders see roughly even odds because Trump has vetoed sparingly in his second term, but legislative fights over elections, immigration, and spending could still prompt one before year-end. Unexpected overrides, deals, or adjournment timing could shift probabilities either way.
