The 2026-27 NHL season opens with a tightly bunched field for the 2027 Stanley Cup champion, as traders price the Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, and Florida Panthers as the clearest leaders based on recent roster construction and sustained contention windows. Carolina enters as defending champions with a deep core and strong goaltending stability, while the Avalanche leverage regular-season dominance and key extensions despite a disappointing playoff exit. Florida gained significant forward depth through the Brady Tkachuk acquisition, improving top-six talent and cap flexibility. Broader parity stems from active offseason trades across contenders like the Oilers, Golden Knights, and Lightning, plus emerging depth from teams such as the Wild and Stars. This distribution reflects the long timeline, injury risks, and multiple paths to a deep playoff run.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to be named as the champion of NHL for the 2026-27 season per the rules of NHL (e.g., participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No".
If multiple teams are declared winners, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If this event is cancelled, postponed after June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a champion has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be official information from the NHL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
