Vincent Keymer holds the strongest position in this 10-player classical round-robin at the 2026 Super Chess Classic Romania, driven by his current outright lead after four rounds and consistent scoring against a stacked Grand Chess Tour field. The German grandmaster’s recent victory in the Grenke Freestyle Open has reinforced trader confidence in his form heading into the May 14–23 event in Bucharest. Jorden van Foreest and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu sit close behind following key wins, including Praggnanandhaa ending Javokhir Sindarov’s long unbeaten streak, while Anish Giri, Fabiano Caruana, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave remain within striking distance after solid results and a rest day approaching. Alireza Firouzja’s medical issue and lower standing have tempered his market share, leaving the race competitive among the top contenders with six rounds remaining.
