Spain and France lead the outright market as slight favorites, backed by elite squad depth, recent strong qualifying campaigns, and proven knockout-stage experience among their core players. England, Brazil, and Argentina follow closely with similar pedigrees, while Portugal represents the strongest first-time contender yet trails in implied probability. The expanded 48-team format and favorable paths for top seeds further tilt outcomes toward established powers, whose historical dominance in finals and superior talent pools outweigh momentum from unproven sides. Recent power rankings and simulations consistently highlight these gaps in consistency and match-winning quality.
