Messi holds a clear edge in this head-to-head World Cup goals market, driven by his 13 career tournament strikes against Ronaldo’s eight, including five knockout-stage goals to the Portuguese forward’s zero. Argentina’s deeper attacking options and Messi’s proven ability to deliver in high-stakes matches provide stronger scoring opportunities than Portugal’s setup. At 38, Messi remains central to his side’s plans heading into 2026, while Ronaldo, now 41, faces greater minutes restrictions and reliance on set pieces. Recent form and squad health further tilt trader consensus toward the Argentine captain accumulating more goals across the group and knockout stages.
