Raphael Collignon enters the National Bank Open second round as the higher-ranked player at world No. 38, riding strong 2026 momentum that includes a career-high ranking and a recent grass-court victory over Alexei Popyrin in Halle. The Belgian also reached the Gstaad final last month and holds a 56-23 record over the past year. Popyrin, the 2024 Montreal champion now ranked No. 139, has endured an 8-17 season marked by inconsistent results, though his first-round win here offers some revival on the hard courts. Their head-to-head favors Collignon, and the surface shift from grass may test both players' adaptations in this Masters 1000 matchup.
