Rafael Jodar, the 19-year-old Spaniard and recent hard-court standout, entered the Cincinnati Open round of 64 on strong momentum from a Washington final and Montreal semifinal, where his improved serve and groundstrokes proved effective. Denis Shapovalov, ranked around 43 and returning from a Los Cabos injury that limited his Montreal play, advanced past Adrian Mannarino but carries questions about full fitness and consistency in extended rallies. Their lone prior meeting favored Shapovalov in Dallas, yet trader pricing reflects Jodar’s current form edge on the hard courts at this ATP 1000 event. Schedule position, surface speed, and any late physical updates remain key variables ahead of resolution.
