The Boston Red Sox enter the three-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park with a stronger 64-55 record and third-place standing in the AL East, while the Pirates sit at 58-63, fourth in the NL Central and well out of contention. Boston’s recent hot streaks have been tempered by a current skid and lineup thinning from injuries, including first baseman Triston Casas on the 60-day IL with a wrist issue and catcher Adley Rutschman recovering from wrist inflammation. Pittsburgh faces its own roster challenges, notably starter Mitch Keller’s season-ending arm injury and multiple position-player absences, which have strained run prevention and depth. Home-field factors at PNC Park, combined with pitching matchups and bullpen usage across the August 14-16 slate, remain central to how traders assess implied probabilities for individual games and series outcomes.
