The Chicago White Sox hold a narrow lead in the AL Central at 61-57, two and a half games ahead of the Detroit Tigers (59-60), setting up a key divisional series at Comerica Park in mid-August. The Tigers enter with strong recent momentum, posting an 8-2 mark in their last 10 games behind improved offense and reliable starting pitching, including right-hander Troy Melton’s sub-2.00 ERA. Chicago’s rotation has faced inconsistency, with several arms on the injured list, while the Tigers benefit from home-field factors and better run prevention. Recent head-to-head results have been competitive, though Detroit’s bullpen and middle-inning depth could influence late-game outcomes in this matchup.
