The Los Angeles Angels (43-71) enter the interleague series at loanDepot park as heavy underdogs against the more competitive Miami Marlins (58-58). The Marlins benefit from home-field advantage and stronger recent pitching, with starters like Tyler Phillips posting a 3.53 ERA. Angels rotation options, including George Klassen, have struggled with high ERAs, while Miami’s staff offers better depth. Mike Trout’s return from hamstring issues has provided a spark, including a recent home run, but Los Angeles’s overall roster inconsistencies and poor divisional standing limit their edge. Situational factors include Miami’s solid home performance and the Angels’ road struggles this season.
