The 2026-27 Scottish Premiership season opened in late July with Celtic widely viewed as title favorites following their prior campaign, leaving a wide group of clubs with comparable implied probabilities to finish second. Pre-season previews and early matchweek results highlight an unusually open race for runner-up, driven by managerial transitions at Rangers and Aberdeen, significant squad turnover at Hearts after losing key personnel, and improved depth at clubs like Hibernian, Motherwell, and Dundee. Recent form, home/away splits, and European qualification implications add further uncertainty, as no single side has established clear separation in the battle for the top European spots behind the champions. Trader consensus reflects this parity, with historical patterns of mid-table volatility and the absence of a dominant challenger keeping probabilities tightly grouped.
