Pawel Pawlikowski’s Fatherland leads trader sentiment at 28% after its strong premiere reception at Cannes, where critics praised its disciplined postwar drama and Sandra Hüller’s lead performance, earning extended standing ovations that signal awards momentum for the director of Ida and Cold War. Na Hong-jin’s Hope sits close behind at 24%, buoyed by the filmmaker’s horror pedigree and early buzz around its genre-bending approach, while Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Minotaur at 21% and Lukas Dhont’s Coward at 19.6% reflect sustained anticipation for established auteurs delivering ambitious period pieces. The tight clustering among top contenders underscores the festival’s historically unpredictable jury process, with remaining competition screenings and final guild-style deliberations likely to shift momentum before the May 23 Palme d’Or announcement.
