Local government elections are scheduled to be held across Tasmania on October 27, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of the Central Coast Council area as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as declared by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission (https://www.tec.tas.gov.au/).Cheryl Fuller, the incumbent mayor of Tasmania’s Central Coast Council, holds the leading position in the market at 74.5 percent amid limited visible opposition ahead of the October local elections. As of mid-June 2026, no councillor had publicly declared a mayoral challenge, though several are positioning for the deputy role, and external candidates remain possible before nominations close. Fuller has emphasized priorities such as building a stronger financial buffer and managing a smaller council structure. Garry Carpenter, her 2022 opponent whom she defeated with 54.51 percent of the vote, sits at just 12.5 percent. The cluster of unnamed candidates and “Other” at 50 percent reflects uncertainty over late entrants or fragmented support in a compulsory-voting contest. Trader pricing aligns with the absence of organized competition to date, while any confirmed challengers or council developments could still shift implied probabilities before election day.
