Tensions between India and Pakistan remain elevated a year after their May 2025 four-day exchange of missile and drone strikes, which followed a terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir and ended in a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that continues to hold. Both sides have since accelerated acquisitions of drones, precision munitions, and air defenses while maintaining high alert postures along the Line of Control, driven by persistent concerns over cross-border militant activity and infiltration risks. Diplomatic channels stay largely frozen, with limited unofficial signals of possible dialogue amid public statements emphasizing restraint and bilateral resolution of disputes. A U.S. think tank assessment highlighted moderate risks of renewed armed confrontation in 2026 tied to terrorist incidents, though no major escalatory triggers have materialized in recent months. Trader consensus on near-term Indian strikes reflects these dynamics, factoring in nuclear deterrence, international pressure, and the absence of immediate provocations that could shift probabilities before year-end deadlines.

For the purposes of this market, a qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones, or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Indian military forces that impact Pakistani territory (e.g., if an Indian missile or drone hits a target within Pakistan’s borders, this market will resolve to "Yes").
Missiles or drones that are intercepted before reaching Pakistani territory, as well as surface-to-air missile strikes, will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether debris lands on Pakistani soil or causes damage.
Actions such as artillery fire, small arms fire, FPV or ATGM strikes, ground incursions, naval shelling, cyberattacks, or any operation conducted by Indian ground forces will not qualify as a strike under this market.
The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
