Haruka Kaji, the 31-year-old Japanese veteran ranked near No. 259, brings extensive hard-court experience and a career .550 win rate against Han Shi, the 21-year-old Chinese player sitting around No. 262 who has posted a strong 43-18 record in 2026 with multiple ITF titles on the surface. The first-round W75 Tianjin clash on outdoor hard courts favors Shi through superior recent momentum, including deep runs and titles at W50 and W35 events, plus the benefit of competing in her home country. Kaji’s mixed summer results on hard, including several early exits, contrast with Shi’s consistent form and younger athletic profile. No prior head-to-head meetings exist, leaving current rankings, recent win percentages, and the home factor as the main drivers of implied probabilities in this matchup.
