The Chicago Cubs enter the second game of their three-game Crosstown Classic series holding a 1-0 lead after exploding for a 10-5 road victory on May 15 that snapped the White Sox five-game winning streak. Chicago’s offense has posted consistent run totals through the early season while the club sits atop the NL Central at 29-16, bolstered by strong starting pitching and timely hitting from players such as Carson Kelly. The White Sox, now 22-22 and second in the AL Central, showed improved form heading into the series but must regroup at home with their pitching staff facing a potent Cubs lineup that has outperformed expectations in recent weeks. Remaining games on May 16 and 17 will hinge on bullpen management, starter command, and how each club handles short rest in the interleague matchup.
