The St. Louis Cardinals enter Saturday’s home matchup at Busch Stadium after a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory in 11 innings Friday, powered by Jordan Walker’s two-RBI game and Yohel Pozo’s pinch-hit single. That result extended St. Louis’s recent surge to 26-18 overall and second place in the NL Central, while the Kansas City Royals dropped their fifth straight contest and fell to 19-26, last in the AL Central. Kansas City continues to manage significant pitching absences, including the placement of Matt Strahm on the injured list and season-long losses for Jonathan India and others, forcing reliance on depth options. The Cardinals’ stronger overall form and home advantage have shaped trader expectations heading into the rubber match.
