The New York Mets enter this four-game series at Nationals Park amid a prolonged slump, holding a sub-.500 record and having dropped 17 of their last 20 contests entering mid-May. Washington, meanwhile, sits slightly above .500 with stronger recent results, including a three-game sweep of the Mets in late April powered by offensive outbursts and effective starting pitching. Key pitching matchups feature Mets right-hander Christian Scott facing Nationals starter Jake Irvin on opening night, with both clubs emphasizing bullpen stability and lineup adjustments for the road venue. Home-field advantage at Nationals Park, combined with the Mets’ ongoing roster health questions and the Nationals’ improved divisional standing, shapes trader focus on the series outcome.
