Mirra Andreeva enters this US Open first-round matchup on outdoor hard courts as the clear favorite, holding the No. 5 WTA ranking, a 40-13 record in 2026, and the French Open title from June. The 19-year-old has demonstrated strong recent hard-court form, including a dominant 6-1, 7-6(5) victory over Tjen in the Cincinnati third round just 10 days prior. Janice Tjen, ranked No. 35 and seeking her first Grand Slam win at this level, posted an 11-22 singles mark this season after a breakthrough 2025 that included her lone WTA title. Andreeva’s superior power, consistency, and experience in high-stakes matches on the surface have shaped trader consensus around her implied probability exceeding 75 percent. Tjen’s path to an upset would require capitalizing on any early unforced errors from the seed, though her recent three-set win in Monterrey offers limited momentum against this caliber of opponent.
