Jessica Pegula holds a clear edge in the National Bank Open round-of-16 matchup against Diana Shnaider on Toronto hard courts, reflecting her strong 2026 form with multiple titles including Charleston and consistent top-four ranking. Pegula leads the head-to-head 4-0, including straight-sets wins on hard courts at the recent Washington Open and a comeback victory earlier in Charleston, leveraging reliable serving and defensive coverage. Shnaider, ranked No. 17, brings aggressive baseline power and recent momentum after defeating higher-ranked opponents, yet faces a tougher test against Pegula’s experience and adaptability. Surface familiarity and both players’ solid records shape the current market positioning ahead of the August 9 encounter.
