Rising hardware component costs, particularly memory and storage, have delayed Valve's official Steam Machine pricing announcement ahead of its expected 2026 launch, driving the 78.5% market-implied probability that the device will release at $700 or more. Recent leaks suggesting a $600–$650 base model for the 512GB variant contrast with analyst assessments that position the hardware more like a mid-range PC than a console, factoring in supply chain pressures and Valve's reluctance to subsidize sales heavily. Traders are weighing these dynamics against historical Valve hardware patterns and upcoming catalysts like a potential pricing reveal or developer conference updates, where any confirmation of premium features or higher-capacity variants could further solidify expectations above the $700 threshold.
