Florida's surge to the top of early 2027 national championship odds stems primarily from its elite 2027 recruiting class, ranked among the nation's best with the most blue-chip commitments under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall following a program reset. This talent influx, combined with transfer portal activity, gives the Gators a perceived roster-building edge in a wide-open field. Traditional powers like Notre Dame and Ohio State maintain strong positioning through consistent coaching, proven development pipelines, and competitive recent seasons, while teams such as Texas, Oregon, and Miami benefit from high-end recruiting momentum and conference alignment. The distant timeline leaves room for injuries, portal shifts, and on-field results to reshape the consensus before the 2026 campaign even concludes.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed participant to be named as the national champion of 2026-27 NCAA Football Division 1 season per the rules of NCAA (e.g., participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No".
If multiple teams are declared winners, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If this event is cancelled, postponed after February 8, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a champion has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be official information from the NCAA; however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
