Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated on May 15 that Russia is considering plans to launch operations against a NATO country from Belarusian territory, in addition to strikes on northern Ukraine. This assessment aligns with European intelligence reports of Moscow rebuilding forces and conducting hybrid actions along NATO’s eastern flank, including airspace violations and infrastructure probes. Analysts point to structural vulnerabilities such as the Suwałki Gap and potential troop repositioning once Russia reallocates resources from Ukraine. Ongoing NATO vigilance activities and alliance coordination efforts remain key variables. These developments sustain trader focus on escalation timelines while underscoring Russia’s current constraints from its Ukraine commitments.

For the purposes of this market, land de facto controlled by NATO member states or Russia as of May 28, 2025, will be considered the sovereign territory of those countries.
Hybrid or “grey zone” operations conducted by unmarked personnel will qualify if they are confirmed to be Russian operatives and are intended to establish de facto control over territory, as occurred in Crimea (2014) or Donbas (2014–2022).
The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible sources.
