Valentin Vacherot, the 15th seed and top-20 player with a first-round bye, entered the Cincinnati Open second-round matchup on hard courts after a recent slump that included three straight tour-level losses, most recently falling in Montreal. Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, ranked around 65-70 and coming off a straight-sets win over Kyrian Jacquet in his opener, had no prior head-to-head history with Vacherot but brought strong recent results and a career-high ranking near 63 earlier in 2026. The higher-ranked player's experience at Masters 1000 events typically shaped trader consensus, though Vallejo's form and the younger player's aggressive baseline game created realistic upset potential on the outdoor hard surface.
