The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the late-August/early-September stretch with an 80-54 record atop the NL West, bolstered by strong recent form and home-field advantage at Dodger Stadium for their upcoming three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals beginning September 1. The Cardinals sit at 67-68, 16.5 games behind in the NL Central and on the fringes of the wild-card race, hampered by multiple injuries including shortstop Masyn Winn's thumb fracture and outfielder Everson Pereira's hand issue. Both clubs carry extensive injured lists—Dodgers missing starters like Roki Sasaki and position players such as Andy Pages and Will Smith—but Los Angeles maintains superior overall roster depth and run differential. Recent head-to-head results and schedule strength favor the Dodgers' implied probabilities in any game or series resolution.
