The Mets enter the August 16 series finale at Citi Field with fresh momentum after back-to-back wins, capped by Francisco Lindor’s RBI single in a 5-4 walk-off on August 15. Washington, holding a 60-65 record compared to New York’s 55-69 mark, has shown inconsistent offense and bullpen issues in recent NL East play. Both clubs remain far from wild-card contention, shifting focus to individual performances and rest advantages in the final month. Jake Irvin’s start for the Nationals contrasts with the Mets’ home pitching depth, while late-inning rallies and RISP opportunities have defined recent outcomes. Traders weigh these form trends and divisional matchups when assessing implied probabilities.
