The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder dominated Western Conference positioning entering the 2026 playoffs as the top two seeds with 62- and 64-win regular-season records, anchored by Victor Wembanyama’s elite two-way impact and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s scoring leadership. Their seven-game Western Conference Finals clash, featuring multiple overtime thrillers and a historic comeback, shaped market pricing around those franchises’ depth, young cores, and coaching stability over challengers like the Lakers, Timberwolves, Nuggets, and Rockets. Roster durability, playoff experience, and home-court advantages in earlier rounds further reinforced trader consensus on the top seeds advancing, with injuries or late surges from supporting casts representing the main variables that could alter outcomes.
