FIFA officially announced on May 14 that Madonna, Shakira, and BTS will co-headline the first-ever halftime show for the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium on July 19. Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin in partnership with Global Citizen, the performance will benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Shakira brings direct tournament history through her “Waka Waka” anthem, while Madonna and BTS add massive cross-generational and international draw. The extended slot marks a deliberate shift toward Super Bowl-style entertainment during soccer’s biggest match, with confirmed appearances from Sesame Street and Muppet characters. This lineup reflects FIFA’s push for broad global appeal ahead of the expanded 48-team tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
