**CS2 continues to lead VALORANT in peak concurrent viewership and total hours watched for top-tier events, with recent majors setting new benchmarks that widen the gap.** In early 2026, Counter-Strike S-tier tournaments generated roughly 205 million hours watched against Valorant's 130 million, alongside higher peaks (1.38 million vs. ~880,000) and average viewers. The IEM Cologne Major 2026 shattered records with a 2.75 million peak and over 100 million hours watched, surpassing prior CS2 highs like the 1.79 million from the 2025 BLAST.tv Austin Major. By comparison, VALORANT Champions 2025 peaked at 1.47 million and showed further softening in 2026 events, with reduced peaks and hours relative to 2024–2025. CS2 fields two majors annually with deeper regional audiences and longer-established competitive history, while VALORANT's fewer flagship events (such as VCT Champions or Masters) have not closed the concurrent-viewer differential despite strong regional spikes. These sustained metrics underpin trader consensus that VALORANT is unlikely to overtake CS2 viewership at a 2026 major.
