The 2026 WNBA regular season opened in early May with 15 teams vying for eight postseason berths determined solely by overall records. Early results and preseason projections have reinforced the New York Liberty, Las Vegas Aces, and Indiana Fever as front-runners, driven by star continuity from players such as Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, and Caitlin Clark plus strong roster depth after a busy offseason. The Atlanta Dream and Minnesota Lynx have posted quick wins that bolster their positioning, while lower-tier clubs confront steeper paths due to thinner benches and tougher initial schedules. Key upcoming elements like the Commissioner's Cup starting in June, rest advantages, and injury management will continue to influence playoff odds as the 44-game slate unfolds.
