Jerome Kym enters the first-round ATP Challenger 100 clash in Hagen on clay as the clear favorite against Max Houkes, reflecting his higher ranking, stronger recent results on the surface, and a 1-0 head-to-head edge that includes a three-set win on clay in Tulln last year. The Swiss right-hander’s 198 cm frame and aggressive baseline game provide advantages in longer rallies typical of Challenger-level clay, while the Dutch player will look to exploit any early breaks or capitalize on Kym’s occasional lapses in consistency. Both competitors arrive with solid 2026 win rates, but Kym’s form and physical profile give him the edge in a match that could hinge on second-set momentum and serving accuracy under variable German summer conditions.
