The Padres, sitting at 72-63 and clinging to the final NL wild-card spot with 28 games left, visit the 64-71 Reds for a late-August series at Great American Ball Park. San Diego’s rotation depth, led by Michael King’s sub-3.30 ERA, gives them an edge despite notable absences including Joe Musgrove, Nick Pivetta, and Jeremiah Estrada on the injured list. Cincinnati, eliminated from contention, continues to battle multiple absences such as Ke’Bryan Hayes and several starters, contributing to a 4.55 team ERA. Recent interleague results and head-to-head splits from June show competitive games, but the Padres’ stronger overall form and bullpen stability shape current market pricing around the road side. Late scratches or weather at the venue could still shift implied probabilities in either direction.
