If this tournament is postponed after October 12, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, canceled, or a winner has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other." If multiple teams are declared winner, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed team name comes first alphabetically. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the tournament organizer, FIDE (https://chessolympiad2026.fide.com/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Recent confirmation of team line-ups for the September 2026 event in Samarkand has highlighted razor-thin gaps in average ratings among the top Open squads. The United States leads the seeding at 2751 with Caruana, So, and Niemann, followed closely by defending champions India at 2733 featuring Erigaisi and Praggnanandhaa, then hosts Uzbekistan at 2720 and China. This narrow separation, combined with the 11-round Swiss format, board depth, and potential for individual upsets or fatigue across the field of over 200 teams, sustains the tight implied probabilities around the leading contenders. Home advantage for Uzbekistan and India's recent title defense add further balance to the competitive outlook.
