Sebastian Gorzny and Marc Polmans meet in a tightly contested first-round qualifying match on outdoor hard courts at the Winston-Salem Open, with recent serve-and-return metrics showing only marginal edges for the American. Gorzny, a recent University of Texas standout and USTA playoff winner who earned a US Open main-draw wildcard, brings strong hard-court results from lower-level events and college dominance into the matchup. Polmans, the more experienced Australian with a higher career ranking, has focused primarily on doubles this season with limited recent singles activity, though his tour-level exposure provides a baseline edge in consistency. Both players enter with comparable recent win rates around .40–.50 on the surface, and no reported injuries or late changes alter the draw. The outcome hinges on which competitor converts baseline points and handles pressure more effectively in this low-stakes opener.
