Tommy Paul, the No. 20 seed and world No. 21, enters the US Open second round after rallying from a set down to defeat qualifier Coleman Wong in four sets on August 30. The 29-year-old American holds a strong hard-court record and seeks his first deep New York run beyond the round of 16. Opponent Dino Prizmic, ranked No. 102, advanced in a grueling five-set victory over Aleksandr Shevchenko that lasted nearly four hours and required saving match points. The 21-year-old Croatian has dealt with recurring hip issues, including a recent withdrawal from Winston-Salem, and holds a mixed 2026 record with limited prior success against top-30 opposition on hard courts. Trader sentiment reflects Paul's experience, recent form, and seeding advantage in this first meeting.
