Qinwen Zheng enters this US Open qualifying final as the clear favorite against Elena Pridankina on outdoor hard courts, with her superior experience, higher career-high ranking of No. 4, Olympic gold medal, and multiple Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances outweighing her current No. 121 ranking and recent injury setbacks. Zheng advanced with a straight-sets win over Clara Burel in the prior round, showing strong serving and clutch play despite double faults. Pridankina, the 20-year-old ranked No. 186 with a solid 27-17 record in 2026 and prior Grand Slam main-draw experience at Roland Garros, reached this stage by defeating Rebecca Marino but faces a significant step up in opponent quality and match importance for main-draw entry. The matchup highlights Zheng’s power and big-stage pedigree against Pridankina’s recent consistency at lower levels.
