The former Rizin champion brings explosive knockout power and a 21-6 record into the 135-pound matchup, where the weight move should reduce severe cuts and allow him to leverage striking advantages. Smotherman, 12-6 overall and 1-2 in the UFC, enters on a two-fight skid following decision losses to Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simon, though he previously notched a win over the latter and maintains solid volume striking.
