The expanded 48-team format and recent high-profile injuries, including Lamine Yamal’s hamstring issue and Rodrygo’s ACL tear, have kept the nation-of-top-goalscorer market tightly bunched among New Zealand, Uruguay, France, and Spain. Trader consensus shows these leading outcomes within a narrow 4-point range because scoring opportunities now spread across more matches and groups, preventing any single nation from pulling away. France benefits from Kylian Mbappé’s proven World Cup pedigree and club form, while Uruguay and emerging options like Norway’s Erling Haaland or England’s Harry Kane remain viable due to favorable group paths and recent international output. This dynamic underscores how roster depth, schedule congestion, and late fitness updates continue to shape implied probabilities without a clear favorite emerging.

In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official leader as determined by FIFA rules. If multiple leaders are announced then this market will resolve to the nation represented by the player who scored fewer goals from penalty kicks. If a tie still persists, this market will resolve to the nationality of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically.
If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there is no leader declared within that timeframe, the corresponding market will resolve to “Other”.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
