Alexander Zverev enters the US Open first round as the top seed and world No. 2 after Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal, carrying strong 2026 momentum from a French Open title, Wimbledon final, and 46–13 record. He faces Lorenzo Sonego (ATP No. 91) on hard courts in Arthur Ashe Stadium, where Zverev holds a perfect 6–0 head-to-head record, including wins across multiple seasons. Sonego arrives with a 9–13 seasonal mark, limited hard-court success, and recent mixed results in Winston-Salem and Cincinnati. Zverev’s serve-return dominance and experience in night sessions position him as the clear favorite in trader pricing, though any late form dip or physical issue could extend the contest.
