Recent monthly Eurozone HICP readings at 2.8–2.9% reflect elevated energy prices stemming from Middle East geopolitical tensions, which have lifted services inflation to 3.3% and core measures to 2.5%. Trader consensus pricing 3.1%+ annual inflation for 2026 at 59.9% implied probability aligns with Conference Board forecasts near 3.0% and accounts for the risk that oil-price normalization remains incomplete. The ECB’s June 25-basis-point hike and data-dependent stance underscore persistent price pressures above the 2% target, while SPF expectations of 2.7% and potential de-escalation in energy markets introduce downside skew. Key near-term catalysts include August CPI prints and September FOMC/ECB meetings that will shape the balance of risks around the market-implied path.
