Iowa's open Senate seat, following Joni Ernst's retirement, features a Republican primary between U.S. Representative Ashley Hinson and former state Senator Jim Carlin, while Democrats are choosing between state Representative Josh Turek and state Senator Zach Wahls ahead of the June 2 primaries. The state's R+6 partisan voting index and consistent Republican performance in recent federal contests underpin trader consensus that the eventual GOP nominee holds the stronger position. Recent April 2026 polling shows narrow general-election matchups, with Democratic candidates edging or tying Hinson by single digits, yet these results have not shifted broader market positioning away from Republican favorability given Iowa's electoral history and the absence of major national shifts that typically alter such dynamics.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
