Incumbent Republican Ann Wagner secured her party's nomination in the August 4, 2026 primary with nearly 74% of the vote in Missouri's 2nd Congressional District, while Democrat Fred Wellman narrowly won his party's contest. The district's Republican lean (R+4 to R+6 PVI) and Wagner's consistent reelection record, including a 2024 victory margin exceeding 12 points, underpin trader consensus favoring the Republican Party at 76.5%. Nonpartisan ratings classify the seat as solid or likely Republican ahead of the November 3 general election, reflecting the incumbent's advantages and limited evidence of a competitive shift despite Democratic recruitment efforts. A single May 2026 poll showed a close head-to-head matchup before name identification effects.
