Romania's political landscape remains unsettled following the May 5 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and collapsed the pro-European coalition. President Nicușor Dan has scheduled formal consultations with parliamentary parties beginning May 18 to identify a candidate capable of securing a majority for investiture, explicitly signaling openness to a technocratic option amid fractured alliances. This process, combined with the absence of any pre-negotiated majority, has kept trader probabilities tightly clustered among several names, none exceeding 18 percent. Developments such as party negotiations, confirmation of cross-party support, or an early technocratic nomination could quickly consolidate sentiment, while prolonged deadlock or new coalition breakdowns would sustain the current dispersion.

To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
