The 2026 NHL Draft produced an unusually deep class of high-end prospects, with many first-rounders projected to secure NHL roster spots and meaningful ice time for the 2026-27 season. This depth keeps Calder Trophy implied probabilities tightly bunched, as no single player has pulled away in trader consensus. Gavin McKenna, the No. 1 overall pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs after a productive NCAA season at Penn State, leads at 27.5% due to his offensive skill set and favorable team context. Ivar Stenberg (10.5%), selected second by the San Jose Sharks, trails but remains competitive alongside names such as Adam Novotný, Caleb Malhotra, and Alexander Command, whose paths hinge on training-camp performance, line combinations, and adaptation to pro pace. Preseason roster battles and early-season deployment will likely drive further movement.
