The NY-17 race features incumbent Republican Mike Lawler facing Democratic nominee Cait Conley in a Lower Hudson Valley swing district that Kamala Harris carried in 2024. Trader consensus prices the Democratic outcome at 66% following Conley's June 2026 primary victory over multiple challengers, highlighting her profile as an Army veteran and former national security official. Lawler's narrow 2024 reelection and the seat's competitive partisan lean contribute to the Republican share near 29%. Limited post-primary developments have kept the contest closely watched, with fundraising and campaign positioning serving as key variables ahead of the November general election.
