Incumbent Republican Bob Latta, first elected in 2007, faces Democrat Brian Shaver in Ohio's 5th congressional district on November 3, 2026. The district's consistent Republican performance, including a 24-point Trump margin in 2024 and Latta's prior double-digit victories, underpins trader consensus around a strong GOP hold. Multiple nonpartisan ratings classify the seat as Solid or Safe Republican, reflecting its R+12 partisan lean and limited Democratic infrastructure. Shaver's May primary win has not produced notable polling shifts or fundraising surges to alter the outlook. Late developments such as a national Democratic wave, significant incumbent scandal, or unexpected turnout changes could narrow the gap, though structural factors make such shifts improbable before election day.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
