Incumbent Republican Cliff Bentz secured the nomination for Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District with nearly 80 percent in the May primary, advancing to the November general election against Democrat Chris Beck. The district, encompassing much of eastern and southern Oregon, carries a strong Republican tilt reflected in consistent “Solid R” or “Safe R” ratings from forecasters and Bentz’s 64 percent victory in 2024. Limited Democratic fundraising and a historically Republican electorate since 1981 underpin trader consensus favoring the Republican Party at 94.5 percent. A major scandal involving Bentz, an unexpectedly strong national Democratic midterm environment, or unusually high Democratic turnout could narrow the margin, though structural factors continue to favor the incumbent’s reelection.
