Bob Brooks secured the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district in the May 19 primary, positioning him to challenge Republican incumbent Ryan Mackenzie in the November 3 general election. Mackenzie flipped the Lehigh Valley-based seat in 2024 by roughly one point amid a close race where Donald Trump carried the district by three points. A late June poll showed Brooks leading Mackenzie by four points, reflecting the district's swing character and Brooks' profile as a firefighter union leader emphasizing working-class issues. Traders price the Democratic nominee as the clear favorite, consistent with historical patterns in competitive House districts during midterm cycles and early indicators of momentum for the challenger.
